This 30-hour IV Certification course meets the requirements of the Florida State Board of Nursing for certification of LPNs to administer IV therapy.

This course is approved for all Nurses: LPN, RN, ARNP, Graduate Nurses, Medical Assistants and Healthcare professionals whose scope of practice includes IV Therapy and injection, Graduate Nurses, Medical Assistants, Candidate for the Nurse Bridge Program; LPN to RN, Candidate entering RN Program are approved to take this course. IV THERAPY 30 Hr Certification:

The purpose of the intravenous (I.V.) therapy course is to provide guidelines for the delivery and safe management of Intravenous therapy. This course will provide the healthcare workers with an understanding of various aspects of intravenous (IV) therapy including: how to care for patients receiving Intravenous therapy, information about the venous system, fluid and electrolyte balance, peripheral veins, common I.V. terms, venipuncture, access to deliver Intravenous therapy, including different catheters and their function/use, specific Intravenous therapies, complications associated with intravenous route, different types of Intravenous equipment, correct administration of Intravenous solutions, medications, parenteral nutrition, blood transfusion, legal aspect of IV therapy, infection control standards and the scope of practice. The course consists of both theory and actual hands-on-practice sessions.

INJECTION SKILLS (CLASS SESSION)

classroom lecture, video skills presentation and hands on training in Injection techniques. The course includes preparing injections from a vial, preparing injections from ampule, Insulin Preparation and administration, Drawing up and mixing more than one type of insulin for administration. Review of guidelines for the delivery and safe management of intramuscular, subcutaneous, intradermal and z- track injections.

This course will provide the healthcare workers with an understanding of various aspects of injection administration, how to locate the appropriate sites for administration, information about the different needle gauge /size, appropriate needle disposal, infection control standards and the scope of practice. This is a great opportunity for LPNs and RN who need to refresh or for new grads who are eager to learn more.
