Training includes classroom lectures, video demonstrations, and hands-on practice in venipuncture techniques and blood draw, including tourniquet application and vein selection on manikins and individuals. Phlebotomy sessions involve drawing blood using vacutainer, butterfly, and syringe methods. Additionally, the course covers Injection skills, focusing on safely managing and delivering intramuscular, subcutaneous, intradermal, and z-track injections. It includes locating appropriate administration sites, understanding different needle gauges/sizes, proper needle disposal, infection control, and scope of practice.
