This course focuses on bloodborne pathogens and workplace safety practices, aimed at educating nurses, therapists, guardians, CNA/HHA, other professionals, and students about OSHA standards, CDC guidelines, APIC, and NIOSH recommendations. It includes sharps safety, disposal, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) use. Additionally, it covers the employer's responsibility to implement a workplace exposure control plan and adheres to the General Duty Clause. Objectives/Goals: 1 – Define bloodborne pathogens. 2 – Explain OSHA regulations on bloodborne pathogens. 3 – Outline strategies to reduce occupational exposure hazards. 4 – Discuss the need for workplace exposure control plans. 5 – Cover key bloodborne pathogens: HIV, HBV, HCV. 6 – Detail the correct use of PPE. 7 – Discuss sharps safety handling and disposal regulations and recommendations.
