This course, designed for Nurses (LPN, RN, ARNP), Speech Language Pathologists (SLP), Audiologists, Occupational Therapists, CNAs, HHAs, students, and others in healthcare, focuses on hearing and speech impairment care. It covers the auditory system, identification and diagnosis of hearing loss, types of hearing loss (conductive, sensorineural, mixed, and Auditory Neuropathy Spectrum Disorder), degree of hearing loss (mild to profound), and key tests like Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) or Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response (BAER), Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE), and Behavioral Audiometry Evaluation. The course also discusses implications for Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists and explores available treatment and intervention services. OBJECTIVES – At the end of this course, the participant will be able to: 1. Discuss and identify the parts of the auditory system 2. Describe screening / steps to diagnosing hearing loss 3. Describe symptoms and types of Hearing loss 4. Describe conductive, sensorineural, mixed hearing loss, and Auditory Neuropathy Spectrum Disorder 5.
