The purpose of this course is to educate and reinforce the knowledge of nurses; ARNP, RN, LPN, CNA, Therapists, and other Health care professionals who are working within the health care environment, as well as other students/ individuals regarding Suicide Prevention, factors that can increase the risk for suicide or protect against it. Review circumstances that increase suicide risk and suicide prevention and the comprehensive public health approach that is needed. Review suicide prevention and Crisis Lifeline resources that are available. Objectives At the conclusion of this course, the participants will be able to: 1. Define suicide and the goal of suicide prevention, 2. Discuss factors that can increase the risk for suicide, 3. Discuss suicide and suicide attempt and serious emotional, physical, and economic impacts, 4. Discuss Suicide prevention and the comprehensive public health approach, 5. Discuss circumstances that increase suicide risk, 6. Discuss Suicide prevention and Crisis Lifeline resources that are available.
